The Seberang Perai Tengah & Selatan chapter of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society held an awards and commisions presentation ceremony to recognise the contributions and service of the members and officers to the community rendered through the society. The SPT&S chapter won top honours in the Penang Branch this year in the blood donation drive, Flag Day collections and the footdrill competition during the recent Penang Branch Annual Parade. The Hon. Lau Chiek Tuan was on hand to present the awards and to hand over a personal contribution of an LCD projector and training mannikins for use in the training of members and the public in first aid.

This is a Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) initiative. We aim to train the public to provide first aid in case of emergencies at home, work or play. The training program is run by qualified MRCS instructors who are trained in first aid, community health, international humanitarian law, teaching methods etc. The instructors are commited to regular updates and the instructors’ qualifications are renewable every three years. The Seberang Perai Tengah & Selatan Chapter of the Penang Branch runs an average of 2 of these courses a month.
