  6. mott July 2, 2007 9:58 pm

wahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Bernard!!!! I want to cekik you!!!

Just last saturday, I was debating whether I should have a bowl of laksa or lurvely durian. Unfortunately, the money-saver in me won..and I had to go for the cheaper alternative! Which was the laksa…. I sure wished I could have BOTH!!!!

  7. yenjai July 3, 2007 8:39 am

eh… it is really a civic club gathering?

  8. rambodoc July 3, 2007 10:36 am

I tasted a durian for the first time in my life last December in a Bangkok pavement, where I got a piece wrapped in plastic clingwrap for a hundred baht. It tasted awful. I love jackfruits, so I expected to have a great experience. But, never mind, I think the right place to try again is Malaysia, right?
Don’t know what a laksah is, so will find out later, after I return from my hols!

  9. anastasia July 3, 2007 11:13 am

Wahh… Drool… I hope durian season is still on the next time I go Penang…

And I never knew there was such a thing as Civic Club…

  10. Bernard July 3, 2007 11:58 am

Wuching, *passing a napkin to Wuching*

Yenchiew, go! go! go! Durians are waiting.

Mott, aiyoo.. why debate? Just do it. Actually, you can’t take THAT much durian in one go anyway, right?

Yenjai, yup! It’s a club “TT”. … I learned that TT means “Teh Tarik” or is could be generic for any “meet” with food involved.

Rambodoc, ahhh… yes… the “fragrance” of durians can actually turn a lot of people off. Hehe.

Malaysian durians are actually even more “fragrant” than Thai durians.. it’s an acquired taste ;-)

Laksa… it comes from a Sanskrit word “Lakh”, which is commonly used in Hindi. It’s a mixture of many ingredients.. mainly rice noodles, vegetables, spices and fish gravy. There are a number of different “styles” … assam (meaning sour)laksa, curry laksa, Sarawak laksa, Siamese laksa etc…

Anastasia, well.. when are you coming to Penang? “Jangan tunggu lama-lama, nanti lama-lama…”

Yup, it’s not ANY Civic Club.. it’s an 8th Gen Civic Club. Hehe. There’s also a Jazz Club and a City Club too, I think.

No need to see photos already started to drool just looking at the word, ‘durian’. Then, looking at the golden creamy flesh, wanna die already lah. Do you know that I have not had durian for 6 years. Last time was 2001 in Malaysia. :(

  16. angel July 4, 2007 12:31 am

Recommendations for liulians there? Err… sorries… I’m not so in touch with that place liao… but last time, my grandpa used to buy the sedap-est liulian from some Malay orchard and then he’ll bring a big sack of ‘em all the way down from BP to B’worth for us… He always kena scolding from his daughters lor cos do all these things but u know lah, old people donwan to listen wan… anyway, now my grandpa too old liao… and tends to forget ppl and things liao…

And I still have not gotten my liulian fix… sien…

  17. simple american July 4, 2007 2:32 am

What a neat thing for a car club to do. That is a car club right or am I confused? Still have not encountered a durian.

  18. bibik July 4, 2007 9:05 am

Eeeps….sorly lah….i dun like lulian. I can do the laksa though….should have snapped a pic of it!

  19. Bernard July 4, 2007 9:49 am

    Eve, the Durian Drive! ;-)

Jonzz, 9/15 drools.. 6 didn’t, for various reasons.. thanks for the suggestion.

Jayce, yes! yes! yes! You’ve got nice durian pics too :-)

N, thanks for dropping by. Nice Balik Pulau Blog you’ve got there.

Judy, awwwwww… kesian. Are you coming back any time soon?

Angel, you have a grandpa who love y’all so much. It’s sad that he’s getting forgetful but their earlier memories are usually intact for a long time. I hope he had good memories from those times.

The liulian fix… i guess you can only imagine for the moment.

Simple American, yes, it’s a car club :-). It’s the KING of the fruits!

Bibik, I was too busy eating it.. Hahaha.

  28. just me July 5, 2007 4:01 pm

durian and siamese laksa! I like both!

  29. nocturnale July 5, 2007 5:22 pm

niaseng, laksa with durian?!? it’s supposed to be deadlier than laksa with alcohol.

  30. Greener Pasture July 6, 2007 4:26 am

    This is very cruel. :)

We have got durians here, at nearly £6 per kilo.
I refuse to yield to the shop’s ‘extortion’.
Now the will to resist has just got a bit weaker…..

When it comes to food, you are definitely standing on the greener pastures.

  31. sbanboy July 6, 2007 8:06 am

I was drooling over the cars …hehe

  32. allthingspurple July 6, 2007 7:24 pm

Yea, man !! Drooling like crazy !!!

By the way, dearie, you have been tagged !!

    http://allthingspurple.blogspot.com/2007/07/sahm-or-ftwm.html

If you think its gender specific, just change it from Stay at home mom to stay at home dad and full time working dad. guess you have to do a twist here.

  33. Bernard July 6, 2007 10:31 pm

Just me, eenie meenie mynie … nvm.. have BOTH!

Nocturnale, u mean durian with alcohol, right? Hehe.

But.. what’s the booster ingredient in Laksa to make it a lethal combination?? :-)

Green Pasture, uahh.. you might as well call it “GREEN GOLD” at that prices! I guess it’s voluntary extortion for some. :-)

OK, look closely at this medallion… tic toc tic toc…. close your eyes and turn away slowly. You never saw this…

When are you coming back for the green gold?

Sbanboy, yesss! Need for speed! Or style?

Allthingspurple, okie.. FTWD reporting for duty :-)

  34. Sweetpea July 7, 2007 10:56 pm

    :( :-(

    very very cruel!

  35. Bernard July 7, 2007 11:23 pm
