Photo Hunters : “Empty”

What’s empty? Hmmmm…

Perhaps these?

This post is somewhat “empty” too.

The pursuit of happyness

I watched The Pursuit of Happyness yesterday. JT sent me “Just the two of us” and Jimbo commented that I reminded him of the movie. A bit of background on the story: Chris is a single father to, five-year-old Christopher and suffering setbacks in his business. This father was not going to let all the misfortunes defeat him and made full use of every opportunity to make life better for his son.

Let me share the scene that made a tear well up…. Having been thrown out of their home, father and son end up having to rush to queue up at the shelter for the homeless to get a bed to sleep in every night. One day, while rushing for the bus, Christopher accidentally drops his super-hero doll on the road, one which he holds to sleep every night. They do not have time to turn back to retrieve it and it was left behind.

I could feel the loss that Christopher must have felt at that moment in time. It hurts.

What I want and do not want on my birthday

This meme came from RayChin (Happy Birthday!) by way of birthday boy, LB. LB tagged me to reveal my birthday wishlist. Hmmm.. I didn’t have one before, so I thought about it for a moment and here it is:

My birthday wishlist:

1. A new grasper. Before you go, “Bernard!!! Behave yourself!” Let me explain that a grasper is an instrument to grasp tissues in laparoscopic surgery. The current one has lost its grip. Need one with a rachet. :-)
2. A blue shirt. Blue looks good on me… *ahem*
3. A “pro” photobucket or flickr account. Err.. probably being just a little bit greedy, since my photos aren’t that big anyway.
4. A Chinese-English Dictionary which can be installed on Pocket PC would be nice. And while you’re at it … it would be even nicer if the dictionary could recognize handwritten Chinese characters. Plus it should be able to talk so that I can learn the pronunciation.
5. A list of potential first aid instructors. I hope that some suitably-qualified young people from the Malaysian Red Crescent will come forward to receive training to aid in the teaching program.
6. A nice photo printer that’s cheap AND good.
7. Rink-side seats for “Finding Nemo on Ice”.
8. Spending the birthday with loved-ones.
9. A chocolate cake.
10. Answers to unanswered questions…

My birthday wish-not list:

1. A grasper without a racheted handle. It’s a strain on the hand to hold it through surgery.
2. A blue shirt of the same shade as mine already. Let’s be adventurous! Hehe.
3. My photos getting lost or being kicked out from where it is hosted.
4. A dictionary which doesn’t speak Chinese.
5. A list of uncommited people who won’t share the responsibility to bring the message of first aid to the people.
6. A nice photo printer that costs a bomb to print.
7. “Finding Nemo” on VCD.
8. Being too busy on the weekend to spend it with family.
9. Cheeese cake.
10. A “No for an answer…

Am I too demanding? Yenjai, you’ve been tagged!

Update: let me tag the Simple American to do this one too.. guys… help him break his record of tags. It’s already 10 in a row.. 12 i think if you count the other 2 that were written just before his birthday post (which should be excusable).

My Ace to Zed

Now, this one came from allthingspurple, via the 5Xmom, Laundryamah, Winn and Chen.

See? I took the trouble to trace it back to the origin! To extend the use of Winn’s terminology again, the great-great-great-grand “tagger” who started this is allthingspurple. And I’ll continue the original context of the meme.
