Garden post

It’s started raining in the late afternoons lately. Of course it does. It’s almost April. The season is the inter-monsoon: the period between the north-easterly and the south-westerly. The moisture doesn’t get blown away and comes down again in the late afternoons. So don’t be surprised that we get “April showers” in this part of the world.

I’m hoping that this will ACCELERATE the growth of the grass in my garden. It’s been two months since my last garden post.. so here are some photos of the garden. The grass is still a bit patchy, much as it was 2 months ago.

Cool Slideshows

You might recognize some of these up there:

  • Bamboo
  • Pandan
  • Jasmine
  • Lime
  • Daisy
  • Epiphytes
  • Birds of Paradise

An excellent slideshow; we’re not keen on too much rain in Britain.

pity I don’t have a garden to tend to. or maybe that’s a good thing, since plants have never flourished under my care, though I love greens and flowers. maybe I should try again, if the plants would give me a second chance…

Bamboos are nice. But they can be very invasive and very very difficult to eradicate once established.

The rustling sound that moving air makes through the bamboo clump… very restful experience indeed!

I would do anything to have a pandan plant and curry leave plant in my garden. Anyone can smuggle one in for me or not? :P
Sssshhh, my friend smuggled in some daun kessom for me in 2002 and I have made many serves of assam laksa, vietnamese noodles….tom yam chicken. Hint, hint! :)

The pandan looks promising. Basil, mints, curry leaves, lemongrass will definately gives a refreshing scent in the morning.

Me…no house, so no garden YET. Are flower and cactus pots on the balcony considered a garden? :)

Was it mushroom or lingzhi ooo???…hehe…daisy is my fav too…=)

LB, kkkkkk… i’m experimenting with the picturetrail slideshows.. at least i dun have to go susah-susah buat montage. Hehe.

The mushrooms were uninvited guests. But not unwelcome. kkkk…

Capt Picard, oh? I guess it gets too wet. We usually don’t like too much rain either but it’s been dry for the past 3 months already.

May, my job is simple… i water and weed. The mastermind is my mom. :-)

LM, my bamboos are in pots. So i hope they won’t get too unruly.

Rustling.. i must learn to listen.

    Singye, give her a call…

Bengbeng, the big pot is for the bamboo. I guess you could use a “tempayan” to grow hyacinths and fish.

Judy, i’ve got curry leaves too!!! Here.

Dun have pandan and curry leaves in Kent meh? Ok lah.. next time i go.. i’ll bring you some. ;-) Hehe.. like real.

Simple American, ok.. thanks for reminding me about the taxes. :-)

Liling, really.. I really have to learn to listen AND SMELL the garden.

Jonzz, nice meeting you on LM :-)

Nyonya, the mushrooms just grew .. probably the spores got carried in by the wind.

.. do you make your own “bedak sejuk”? Uahh.. like my great-grandmother.

Eve, aiks.. when baby goes to the grandma, you complain miss him pulak… hehe.

    C. Doodle, have you got the seeds? Can harvest and make morphine. ;-)

Giddy Tiger, well… they serve the same purpose, right? A rose by any other name.

Chelsea, lingzhi or Ganoderma sp. doesn’t look like that. It’s a flat mushroom. Not a button mushroom like this one.

I always envy those who have their mums around to help them in the chores…in this case, gardening

  18. Judy Leese March 27, 2007 1:27 am

Bernard, you don’t tell lies one hor? You also don’t tease, right? So, I should expect curry leaves and pandan (PLANT) when you are next in Kent. Eh, your son is still more hansem than you! Wahahahaha :D
