My favourite movies. Another meme.

Wow.. this week is a week of memes. I got tagged by Bengbeng, the longkang-side kopitiam tauke. This time, I’m supposed to list five of my favourite movies.

1. Finding Nemo is the story of an over-protective father clownfish who goes in search of his only son who was captured by divers in Australian waters. He meets an amnesiac Dory who has a problem of her own. The unlikely pair ends up in Sydney as they search for Nemo. The persistence and “never-say-quit” attitude of both father and son is inspirational. I love happy endings.

2. Chicken Little is about a physically-challenged youngster chicken who finds that everyone, including his own father, believes in him. He NEVER lost his self-confidence, however, and keeps trying to make something of himself. It turns our that it WAS true that a piece of the sky was falling down. Dad had to learn to believe in his son. The father, son and the rest of Chicken Little’s friends must save the world from destruction by aliens. I really love happy endings.

3. Jurassic Park was one movie that people actually queued up for. There was a queue at the box office at Rex Cinema at Petaling Street for more than a month. The special effects were awesome. The concept of the story really took the world by storm. Every child became more fascinated by dinosaurs than they had ever been. This is the movie watched the most number of times in my house… Joseph could never get bored with it, or the others in the Jurassic Park trilogy. He knew almost every line and had his paraphernalia ready every time he watches the DVD. He wore out the CD already. Do they actually get worn out? Hmm.

4. Dances with Wolves was the best picture of 1990. It was about a veteran and an accidental hero of the civil war who was stationed to an isolated post in Sioux territory. He discovers himself there. There’s a good story, great cinematography and an excellent soundtrack. Kevin Costner was superb in this movie. I personally think that it was his best movie.

5. Pretty Woman…. because Julia Roberts is THE PRETTIEST WOMAN is the movie world!!! Anybody disagrees?

And now… the moment you’ve been waiting for…. I …. t a g ….

Her majesty, the Hijackqueen and, one whom I trust won’t run away from this, jonzz. What are five of your favourite movies?

#1. I grew up in 6 towns before I went to uni: Batu Pahat, Georgetown, Sg Dua, Bukit Mertajam, Kuala Lipis and Butterworth. When I moved to Kuala Lipis, the kids there laughed at the way I spoke Malay… when I moved back to Penang, the kids there laughed again. Ish. Apa? Ape?

#2. I worked at a shoe shop before, selling shoes. So I can tell your shoe sizes just by looking ;-)…. err… more or less.

#4. I had 2 close calls … once on a motorbike from bangi to KL at night, i was knocked down by the side of a trailer and tumbled. The driver didn’t even know that anything happened. The second time… i was on a longboat on the Baram River. At night, going up-stream on the river rapids. The bow lifted up about 2m and the boat was going to overturn… when all of a sudden, the we hit a calm patch in the river. Pheww! Thank God.

#5. My closest call was when I missed my baby’s delivery… i was next to my wife the whole night during her labour. but at the last moment… i got called out because of an ill patient…. THAT happened to be the moment that he popped out. Goodness. After that… close call, you can imagine the rest…

I’m tagging ….. George and Yenjai. Look out!
