Five Things You Didn’t Know About Me - A Meme
This is the first time that I’ve been tagged with a meme. Such a “revealing” meme summore. “Thanks-a-lot”, Hijackqueen.
#1. I grew up in 6 towns before I went to uni: Batu Pahat, Georgetown, Sg Dua, Bukit Mertajam, Kuala Lipis and Butterworth. When I moved to Kuala Lipis, the kids there laughed at the way I spoke Malay… when I moved back to Penang, the kids there laughed again. Ish. Apa? Ape?
#2. I worked at a shoe shop before, selling shoes. So I can tell your shoe sizes just by looking ;-)…. err… more or less.
#3. Aku nemu jako Iban, nemu dik? Laban aku suba diau Bintulu. Aku mayoh berjalai diak; ari Lundu sampai ke Lio Mato kin. Sapa-sapa gak kin ulih nanya ke aku. Ulih aku meri panduan mimit. Haha.

S.I.B. in Lio Mato
#4. I had 2 close calls … once on a motorbike from bangi to KL at night, i was knocked down by the side of a trailer and tumbled. The driver didn’t even know that anything happened. The second time… i was on a longboat on the Baram River. At night, going up-stream on the river rapids. The bow lifted up about 2m and the boat was going to overturn… when all of a sudden, the we hit a calm patch in the river. Pheww! Thank God.
#5. My closest call was when I missed my baby’s delivery… i was next to my wife the whole night during her labour. but at the last moment… i got called out because of an ill patient…. THAT happened to be the moment that he popped out. Goodness. After that… close call, you can imagine the rest…

Wei why me la!
#3 - I don’t know a single thing you are writing!
I think if your wife is giving birth you have the right to not answer a call
Still I can see the doc DNA in you Dr Bernard!!!
Your life was spared on 2 occasions for a purpose for sure!(#4)
#3…er…a secret language?
#5 better be late than never, agree?
Decode #3
“My name is Jako Iban, what’s yours? I’m live in Bintulu for 8 years. I like walking; from Lundu till to Lio Mato Kin. Anybody looking for me? Want me to give you direction for 5 mins??? Har! Har!”
P/s : is tht what you trying to say?? hehee ..
George, because you’ve never had one before. Haha.
lilian and hoiling, good try translating #3, actually : “I can speak Iban, you know? Because I stayed before in Bintulu. I traveled a lot there. From Lundu to Lio Mato there. Anybody wants to go there can ask me. I can give a bit of guidance.”
…. and you got the last two words right, “Har! Har!”.
just me, yes, I have a purpose for sure.
ryeurn, cannotlah.. no other person covering; furthermore, it was in the wee hours of the morning. It was just another floor, but… i deserved it.
bernard what does “meme” mean and what is a “tag”?
Oh, btw the “visual” that you requested is up.
FireHorse, this is the first time I got “tagged” with a “meme”, do forgive me if i’m wrong. In the children’s game, “tag”, when someone is “tagged” it means that he/she is labelled as “it” and has to chase the others until he/she can pass the “tag” to someone else. So it means… passing the “tag” or baton in a sort of relay. A “meme” is a piece of information that is passed on from one to another. In this case, the information that is passed on is only the framework of the “meme”.
I presume that the objective of this blog “game” is to conjure up some activity and to get to know each other better. And of course, just for fun.
p.s. Uahh… FH, got great visual verification already. ok, ok, i belif u.
p.p.s. BTW, FH ……. now, I TAG U 2!
i think i remember part1 of #4.
if i’m remembering it correctly, after that, you got summoned for lunch with aunty here who gave you an earful about going to bangi EVERY night on a motorbike with those road conditions.
#3 is kinda kewl!!! And I don’t understand why man can’t sit still and not go anywhere in #5.
Wah, just one short stay in southern parts (batu pahat) and you’re scared oledi. why the malay more solid sounding down south eh?
JT, ooppss… luckily i din “kelentong”. Pheww! Hehe.
Queen, a man’s gotta learn what a man’s gotta learn.
LM, i hadn’t learned to speak yet when i was in Batu Pahat. Hehe. In Kuala Lipis, Pahang. Not scared lah … just in jest. Down south, “apa” is pronounced “ape”.
bernard….:) nice blog u have.
will come back for more…:)
and that picture of ur son on ur shoulder with a “peace” fingers - says something abt u as a dad….nice!
idham
I have been asking people not to tag me for ‘meme’
Guess I forget to warn you. Sigh.
Ok. Bernard. I will do it … when I feel like doing it
Dr Chan, I am still new at this so I dont know the ethics of this tagging stuff..u can chose to ignore or reply this tag
its ok by me but i dont know how to transfer it here
its at my www. hahahaha
Err .. after all the effort explained above, I still don’t understand .. apa itu “TAG”?? “MEME” me and me??
Now I know more about you… cool!
Bernard since you probably in operating room or something lidat, let me get hoiling’s question (correct me if I am wrong)
Like Bernard said a meme is a piece of info passed from one person to another, in this instance it’s just “5 things that you didn’t know about me”. A meme can be anything it could be “Name 5 favorite movies” or “answer 70 questions”. So when I say I tag you “hoiling” it means that you must in this instance tell us or rather post 5 things we don’t know about you. Follow me so far, Bernard got Sarsi or not, thirsty ady here.
Anyway back to the task, after you answer the “meme” because you are the “it” you have to tag someone else, e.g., like Bernard did me. Hope dat helps. :o)
For further examples you can either check out my blog, bengbeng’s blog or kenny ng’s blog.
idham, peace to you, man! welcome here.
yenjai, no problemo…
Bengbengkamik kena tag lagik kah? amboi, amboi amboi…
I guess that you have the choice whether to do it or not… i suppose it’s like drinking tuak at the rumah panjai.. if you start at the first.. have to finish right to the end. ^-^
hoiling, a “meme” is pronounced in one syllable, like “meem”. FireHorse has a more detailed explanation just above. BTW, you got tagged by George liao… check it out.
FireHose, tenkiu, tenkiu, here.. belanja you Sarsi in a tin (technically they’re not “tin”, it’s aluminium, but nvm). Don’t have sarsi in the glass bottle anymore in Tesco nowadays.
.. and got glucosamine for the finger joints (typing giler ady)
Kenny, you still don’t know the half of it… muahahahaha!
Will somebody tag Kenny please?
Just to let you know where this tag is going… FH tagged kok and dr ve thru. George tagged Hoiling, Vagus and just me.
Meme #5: Cannot imagine the rest. Do tell =P (heh heh)
jonzz, don’t imagine. no no no no… we all know how your imagination can run wild. hehe. it’s 18SG… ok, no.. it’s 18PL.
FireHoRse, sorry bout the typo in the preceding comment reply. Minta ampun.
Dat’s better didn’t know when I became a HOSE? Fren fren no nid to ampun wan lah.
FireHoRse, tenkiu fren, pheww… i thot i kena washed away liao.
[…] I have been so unfortunate to be tagged by a meme from bernard. Frankly, I really dislike ‘meme’. […]
still trying to imaging “the rest”… kekeek… wat a bad timing, huh? That’s life, I presume
Yenjai, hey! you did it anyway! Haha.
Chen, yes, bad timing. Actually… my “paternity” leave also started 12 hours after the birth and was only for 3 days. My colleages were doing back-to-back and stretch calls.
Bernard, you know what? I want a website like yours. How is it you can link on your comment page? But then hor, my website is free, of course you must have paid for yours!
So, shall I thank you or spank you for tagging FH who has now tagged me?
p.s. Got thalassaemia, so cannot donate blood right?
Isn’t it good to be tagged?
Judy, thank me lah.. otherwise how would you have come to know me, right? Haha.
Actually, my webmaster paid for it. For me, it’s free.
You could drop in a line to him.
Queen, YES IT IS!!! Haha. So, Judy, don’t spank me.

Hi!
I’m trying to get in touch with people that are familiar with Lio Mato - and though I can’t read what you said about it, it came up under a google search! I’m hoping to visit there soon (I taught there a few years ago, but now live in Australia), and need some info before I go.
Could you help me??
Thanks!
Julia
